Catenary
The word "catenary" refers to a curve formed by a wire, rope or chain hanging from two points under its own weight. Catenary pendants are then mounted on these suspended cables rather than a traditional pole. It allows lighting designers tremendous flexibility to illuminate large open spaces, a small lane, an intersection, and even draw attention to a specific pedestrian area by creating a low profile transition between environments. The unique ambience created by catenary lighting is achieved easily because the lighting can be placed exactly where needed even with no support structure nearby.
Sternberg understands that lighting needs to be designed to adapt to many applications, while still remaining a part of the specific family of decorative luminaires. All of our catenary selections are part of expanded post top and downlighting families that are available. See spec sheets for details.
